Promised Land is an outreach program open to children in the local
community. Promised Land is held on most Wednesdays from 3:30-5:45
p.m. from September through February.
Promised Land focuses on Bible lessons that teach us how to be good
citizens and uses drama, music, crafts and games to reinforce those
lessons. In Promised Land the children learn how to help others in
their commuinty. One of the ways that we try to teach this is by
taking the kids out into the community and by doing service projects
with them, such as yard clean ups for elders, caroling for residents
at Hummelstown Manor and a Thanksgiving Food Drive to name a few.
The relationships that develop between the children
and the volunteers is also a important part of Promised Land.
Children experience the love of God through our caring adult and
teen helpers. The program is open to children in kindergarten
through fifth grade. Children are met at Nye Elementary School at
the close of school and walked to the church.
If you have a child that attends morning
Kindergarten, or a child that attends another school that would like
to attend Promised Land, please feel free to drop them off at the
church by 3:45 p.m.so that they can attend.
Another unique experience at Promised Land is the family style meal
that is served from 5:15-5:45 p.m. This meal is hand made by loving
volunteers and the children sit together with volunteers and share
stories about their day...it is truly a "family" experience.
Registration is required to be part of the program. There is a $20
fee to cover the cost of meals for the year. Registration forms may
be picked up at the Church Office and any questions about the
program can be answered by Christel Dippery via e-mail or at
566-0252 ext. 108.
